John's 40th

John started a new decade today by celebrating his 40th Birthday in the Land of Enchantment (Pics Below on March 27th). Then, he ended his perfect food fest (NM Chili X 3), ending up in Colorful Colorado. The kids picked out a cheesecake and then emptied the store of candles to outfit the cake. Fly fishing equipment was wrapped and awaited his queue of several deep breaths before blowing out a two alarm fire. He is looking forward to putting the rod and waders to good use in the rivers and streams around the state. Enjoy the pics!

John and his flame engulfed cheese cake...40 Big Ones!!!!

John just a little happy about his new fly rod.

Kids trying on their dad's new waders. Too much fun!

One last pic of John with a Carrot Cake and candle at The Range in Bernalillo.

Needed Some NM Chili

We just started everyone's Spring Break and the Family voted for a Cuisine Tour of New Mexico. It was a quick trip and we weren't able to hit all of our favorites in NM, but we did hit the big three.....

The Range in Bernalillo
The Frontier in Albuquerque
Michael's Kitchen in Taos

Marcus and Jessica were kind enough to open their home to us and we overnighted before heading back to Colorado.

The Range Cafe is an all-time favorite of the Lane Family, whether for breakfast or for dinner. But... their Blue Corn Crusted Chili Relleno's are the best ever.

The Frontier is located right across the street form UNM and is another favorite. Their Western Omlette, smothered in Green Chili is phenomenal....not to mention their butter, smoothered Cinnamon Rolls.

Michael's Kitchen! Can you imagine the best Huevos Ranchos on the Planet? This is the place. Although, Cassi will argue that their Blue Corn, Pinon Nut Pancakes are the best.

And on the way out of Taos, we hit The Bean for a great cup of Coffee.

Easter Ski Trip....

This past weekend found......

Jim and Amy (Jim's girlfriend and two boys)
Fudd, Jacque, Jaymie and Lane
Marcus and Jessica
Troy, Joy, Hannah and Sarah
John, Audra, Cassi, Bryce, Tyler and Katie.........

.....Up at Breckenridge and Keystone. We rented a couple of condos and enjoyed some outstanding weather and unbelievable snow for the end of March. (Breck and Key received 10+ inches just prior to our arrival)

It was so good to spend time with family, enjoying the company, conversation and crashes on the slopes!!!!!

I must admit that the Colorado Lane's completely stunk at taking pics, but here are a few..... (I hope that Joy and Jamie can send me more to add at a later date.)

Here is a pic of Fudd and Jacque getting on the "magic carpet" to get on the lift for our very first run.

And this is a pic of Fudd and Jim returning everyone's ski rentals to Sports Authority.....in a shopping cart!

A pic of 'some of the gang' (Joy, Jamie, Lane, Bryce and Tyler) enjoying soda's and Kentucky Fried Chicken....and great company.

Tyler's 16th

It is March 12th and on this day, 16 years ago, when we welcomed our third child into the world.

Once again, Audra and I are amazed to watch our children grow up, and it is just unreal to think our TyTy is 16.

Audra had to leave for school around 6am, so it was up to Dad to get up and cook French Toast, Tyler's favorite for breakfast.

Traditionally, we always go out for birthday dinners, but Cassi had her evening classes and Bryce had to work. So, Tyler asked for his favorite home cooked meal.....hot dogs! Actually, we did it up right with Chili and Cheese. This weekend, we will take Tyler out for some Chinese.

Lighting the candles.

Tyler has been begging for a Paintball gun for 3 years.

Snow, Skiing and Trampoline

It has been a busy, but fun week. Most of my week started off in the office, but I ended the week down in Alburquerque. (Actually, it was a fly in and fly out, but I did have the pleasure to enjoy...The Range and The Flying Star...great little restaurant dives.)

In the Springs, we started off with some new snow.....twice. Here is a view of Pike's Peak. I must admit, I am regularly in awe of the fact that we live in the shadow of a 14,000 foot peak.....and it is so beautiful. (I apologize in advance for the poor pics, as they were taken with my Blackberry, camera phone.)

On Thursday, Audra and I took personal days...."mental health days", as Colorado folk so commonly call them..... and we went for a day of skiing. The Peak had received a new coating of snow, as did Breck and we had a blast.

Audra ending a run of bumps. After the day of skiing on Thursday, we headed back up on Sunday with Tyler. (Cassi and Bryce worked and Katie begged to sleep in.)

After we left Breck, we drive Hwy 6 up over Hoosier Pass and down to the tiny town of Alma. This year, we discovered an outstanding little coffee and pastry shop, that also serves wonderful sandwiches at lunch. Audra caught Tyler and I heading out of the Alma Coffee House with a couple of 'Americano's'. Tyler munched down on one of their, awesome donuts.

On Saturday afternoon, Katie and all her Club Volleyball teammates, enjoyed a couple of hours at a gymnastics facility and had a pizza party. Here is a blurry pic of Katie in a harness, on the trampoline.

It is officially Spring in Colorado!!!!

Spring time comes to Colorado, not by a date on the calendar, but by the behavior of the weather. The past 48 hours is a true example of Spring weather in Colorado. (Click on the Pics for a better view.)

One day, Saturday, March 1st, Audra and I are riding the bike around the Front Range in 60 degree weather. This pic is a shot of Audra and the bike in Woodland Park, just after breakfast at Grandma's Kitchen about 9am. In Woodland Park, we met up with a couple we recently met who also lives in Falcon and loves to ride together, Scott and Suzie Simpson. We had a fabulous ride, scooting north up highway 105 toward Denver. Then we had lunch at Castle Rock and circled back home on highway 83, through Black Forest. It was a wonderful ride.

Then this morning, Sunday, March 2nd, a short 14 hours after the 69 degree high temp on Saturday, we awoke to 24 degrees, 40 mph wind gusts and snow blowing sideways. This pic is the beginning of the storm, but the weather boys are calling for us to get 6-10 inches.
