May 1st and Winter is Still HERE!!!!!

When I left the house this morning, it was a cold 32 degrees and the clouds were lying lower, but the snow hadn't started yet. Ten minutes north, on my way up to the airport, this pic shows what I ran in to.

Incidently, I missed my flight to California and had to rebook for later in the day. But, it is May 1st and this is typical Colorado weather. Yesterday, I rode my bike to Katie's track meet in 70 degree weather and this morning the snow is falling hard.

Track Season is in Full Swing here in Colorado!!!!

Now that the temps have climbed, Track Season here in Colorado is in full swing. All three kids, Bryce, Tyler and Katie are running and they are doing really well.

Bryce Running the 300 hurdles. This is a pic of him attacking the last hurdle....which is always the toughest. Bryce made the Saturday evening sports news, as a TV crew was covering the track meet. Bryce came in second, narrowing loosing to the returning state champion. He is determined!!!

As you can see, Tyler has the hops!!!! If the boy can work on his form, he should have no problem clearing over 6' this year as a freshman.

Katie's first Track Meet was yesterday. She completed in the High Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put and the 100 hurdles. Her shining moment was at the Ring, where she earned the gold medal, taking first place. I think her shot putting strength comes from wrestling with her two older brothers!!!!! :)

Sunday Ride

Yesterday, was one of our first, nice days we have had in a long time, as we just keeping getting snow storm after snow storm. I AM READY FOR SUMMER! With the temps in the high 50's and a beautiful, blue sky day....Audra and I decided to head out on a motorcycle ride. She suggested Cripple Creek.

Half way up the mountain, we pulled over to stretch our legs and enjoy the mountain air. This was Audra's first ride with her new riding gear and helmet.

One of the reasons Audra is so keen on Cripple Creek as a riding destination, is the fact that they have a Starbucks. After parking the bike and ordering our coffee, I popped the question...."Hey babe, how about you and I just take $5 each and hit the slots for 15 minutes?" She was game so we walked into the Casino in full riding regalia, plopped down on a couple of stools and fed our five dollars in. 15 minutes later, Audra had run through her allotment and I was walking up to the Changer to cash out......YEP, I won $110 with $5 in the machine!!!!

On the ride home we came across this little batch of Big Horn Sheep.

One of the things we love about riding bikes is the people we meet. This is a pic of Terry Davis, a resident of Amarillo. We shared a pizza with Terry and he rode half the trip with us. His bike is a brand new, Triumph Scrambler, the same bike that Steve McQueen rode in a movie or two!!! Beautiful Bike!!!!

Prom Night

Mr. Bryce headed off for the Prom.

San Francisco

Audra and I enjoyed a weekend in San Franciso, including a driving tour of some of the country north of the city. We had an absolutely outstanding time and the city proved to be one of our favorites. There is such rich history, outstanding food and sites galour. All our preconceptions of San Francisco were bashed, as everyone was so kind and helpful. We stayed in a downtown hotel on 3rd street and we toured the city, drove to Miur Woods, up the coast and up Sonoma Valley in a Toyota Prius, our first experience in a Hybrid. I loved the 50 mpg and the car drove great.

The Golden Gate Bridge with Down Town San Fran in the background.

After a tour of the Piers, Audra and I enjoyed some Ice Cream.

This is a pic of the West Side of the City.

Fishman's Wharf, right in the middle of all the Piers

Ahhh, and the famous Cable Cars.

John on the bridge

Seeing the Sea Lions was a big highlight off Peir 39

Muir Woods is about a 30 minute drive north of San Francisco. Coastal Redwoods are pretty impressive.

Yes, that is Audra at the bottom.

Audra being silly as I take a pic of the Pacific Coast Line.

A 75 minute drive north brought us to the Simi Winery. We treated ourselves to a complete tour and a full wine tasting. Phenomenal!!

Simi is a mid-sized winery, with about 10,000 barrels. They are highly known for their Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.

We were taken through a collection of 4 whites and 5 Reds. We come home with 6 bottles that are only available at the winery.
