Audra and I riding a loop through Northern Colorado

This weekend, Audra and I just got an itch to see some more of Colorado off the back of our bike. We planned a three trip of about 850 miles, looping through Glenwood Springs, Estes Park and back home.

Day 1, we rode from Falcon, to Woodland Park, to Fairplay, to Breckenridge, to Leadville and down to Glenwood Springs.

Day 2, we rode from Glenwood Springs, up the Colorado River Road, to Steamboat Springs, around to Granby and then over to Estes Park.

Day 3, we rode from Estes Park, back through Rocky Mountain National Park, down through Winter Park, to Idaho Springs, up to Mt. Evans, and down through Evergreen to home.

Enjoy the pics and the three videos.

Wilkerson Pass in between Woodland Park and Hartsel. In the background, you can see Pikes Peak. We are about 70 miles from the house.
Hoosier Pass in between Alma and Breckenridge.
Clinton Gulch Reservoir in between Cooper Mountain and Leadville.
Leadville, CO
Tennessee Pass and an abandoned mountain mining community, in between Leadville and Minturn.

Glenwood Canyon.
Nice little ranch on the Colorado River Road.
Back over the Continental Divide in between Walden and Granby.

Three pics of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Lake Granby.
Two pics of the ride up Mt. Evans. (You have to watch the third video!)

4th of July Weekend

After three weeks of more business travel than I care to repeat and very little time with the kids, we loaded up and headed for the backside of Pikes Peak for some camping and motorcycle riding.

Two great videos.

Audra and I walking the campground, early in the morning with a hot cup of coffee.

The Miller's drove up on Saturday afternoon to join us for a cookout.

Ren, dreaming of his own motorcycle.

Kate, getting down to business on a SMORE.

Wye Campground off of Gold Camp Road.

Sunday morning on the 4th, we rode over to Woodland Park to experience a bit of their celebration. The ride over is about 30 miles, half dirt and half pavement.

Three videos.

My Friend, Frank the German

You might have seen on my Big Bend Trip entry, I posted a couple of pics of Frank. Frank is the German guy I met in Big Bend. Frank shipped his bike over to the states from Germany and is completing a 4 month ride around the US and Canada.

Frank was able to route through Colorado Springs, on his way back east..... staying with us for a night. It was awesome that Frank was able to meet Audra and the kids. The boys were in awe of his motorcycle trip around the US.

Saturday evening, we grilled Tenderloin and enjoyed all of Franks stories of his riding. Sunday morning was all about the World Cup.... as England was pitted against Germany. Starting at 7am, breakfast was cooked and we were engaged in the match, which started at 8am. As Frank said..... "this is a good day.... Germany won!"

A pic of Frank heading east, just after 10am.

Las Vegas Baby!!!!

Having planned a Western Team Meeting and a "Brain Summit" in Las Vegas, I would be spending 6 days in Sin City on business. With creativity, I was able to work in some fun and drag Audra along. Basically, I worked most of the daylight hours, while Audra treated herself to poolside meals and sun bathing, room service, an afternoon at the Spa and general laziness.

We decided to drive out to Vegas, so that we could take in some sites that we had not seen before. The scenery off of I70 and then I15 is simply stunning and highly recommended.

Our pad for the week was the JW Marriott, which is about 10 miles off the Strip. The resort is surrounded by a TPC Course and is just beautiful. We were further spoiled by our Events Manager putting us up in a 2,200 sqft, two bedroom suite.

Twice we headed down to the Strip. On Monday night I treated Audra to a Wolfgang Puck Restaurant and a Show, The Jersey Boys. The show was really awesome!!! Two nights later, we went back to the Strip and toured Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. The figures were amazingly life-like.

Once Friday arrived, we had experienced a ton of Vegas and were looking forward to the drive home. The plan was to drive though Zion Nation Park on Friday evening, drive Canyon-lands in south east Utah and highway 160 across Colorado, home. That part of the country is so amazing and beautiful.

Quick Trip to Texas, via Alaska

Early in June, Audra and Katie decided to travel down to Texas to visit family. The two of them, drove to Midland and spent the night with the Flowers family. Then they got up and drove on to San Antonio.

After I completed my business trip to Alaska, I finished my flight in San Antonio, where I would help them drive home. This pic is taken in Fairbanks at 11pm at night. The sun is still up.

Audra and Jacque at Greenwood.

Fun with the girls in San Antonio.

After 17 straight hours on jets and in airports and four flight legs, I arrive in San Antonio.... just in time to shower and enjoy some good Mexican. If I look a little tired, I should.... as I flew the red-eye and only have about 3 hours of sleep.
