Tyler's Football Banquet
Tyler capped off an outstanding Senior Football Season this past week, with the annual Football Banquet. Falcon ended the season at 9-2 in the 4A Division, being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. Tyler's efforts and improvement all season were phenomenal. He became quicker, more aggressive and smarter with every passing game.

Tyler with his two defensive coaches, Spain and Anderson. These men were outstanding with Tyler all season, teaching him, training him and "getting after" him.

Bryce's Hunt
With Bryce living in Texas this year, attending TBI, he had the opportunity to hunt. Three days of searching for the "10 Pointer" ended positive the last night before we came home to Colorado. (This was a big deal, as I had to teach the boys how to clean an animal.)
On day, Bryce set up in a grove of trees by himself and the next day, Tyler hunted with him. The final night, the big buck stepped out of the trees, about 300 yards away. Bryce got as close as he dared and then made a wonderful shot. Great memories being made!!!

Thanksgiving in Texas
For the Thanksgiving weekend, we (Audra, Tyler, Katie and I) loaded up in the 4-Runner and headed to Texas. We left on Tuesday evening, driving to Amarillo to spend the night in a Holiday Inn. Wednesday morning we awoke and drove to Brownwood to pick up Bryce and travel on to San Antonio. After a couple of wonderful days with the Mathis', enjoying a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner at Chris and Holly's, we headed back to Brownwood for a couple of days with Mimi.

On our way home, our trip was delayed by a grass fire outside of Amarillo.
Just before getting home, we ran into a blizzard.... snow storm. Eventually, we arrived at the house about 8pm. Great trip, but also... great to be home.

Tyler's 4A Playoff Football, Bryce Visits, First Snow
The highlight of the weekend was the Falcon Football Playoff game, in the Colorado 4A Division. The Falcons ended the regular season at 9-1.... an outstanding feat, since the team had been in the 3A Division for the past 6 years (2A prior...quick growing school). Unfortunately, we met a powerhouse with a 6'2, 240lb Tailback with 1,600 yards. Actually the defense played really good.... we just shot ourselves in the foot, time after time... special teams, etc. Anyway, Tyler had an outstanding season and finished his career at Falcon HS with pride.
All season, Tyler has been working to get off the ball quick and attack. The last several games, he accomplished... #44.
It was a big treat to Tyler and the rest of the family to have Bryce fly up for a visit.

Drew and Heidi joined us for the game.
To cap off the weekend, we enjoyed a day of skiing and riding at Copper Mtn.

For the past few weeks, it has been snowing heavily up in the mountains, but nothing at the house, despite our 7k foot elevation. Finally, the flakes start falling here at the house.

Senior Night
Opening Weekend at Copper!!!!
Ski Season.... 2010-2011 has begun and as tradition would have it, we celebrated with a day of skiing on opening weekend.... with the temps around 50 degrees. For the past 7 years, we have been loyal customers of Vail Resorts, skiing Breckenridge, A-Basin, Key Stone, Vail, Beaver Creek and Heavenly (in Tahoe). This year, we needed a change. We opted for the Rocky Mountain Pass... which will give us access to Copper Mountain, Winter Park, Mary Jane and Steamboat Springs.... and if we want, half priced tickets at Whistler/Backcomb in British Columbia.
The first to open is Copper Mtn and we partook of the early season snow.
Enjoy the pics......
Got the new rig... installed with the Yak Rak.... Bike and Snow gear ready to be hauled. We were to the point of needing to do something for Tyler in regard to a vehicle and with his pleading to have the 4-Runner.... we passed it on. In replacement, we opted for a VW Touareg.... in a Turbo Diesel. It is awesome!

It was toasty, so the girls made fun of my 'crazy hair'!!

Unfortunately, Tyler had to do an 8 hour shift at Safeway and couldn't join us. When we returned, I bounced into the grocery store to purchase a few items for some of Poppy's famous fajitas!!!! Tyler is doing great in his job.... and he continues to be promoted. Soon... he will join us on the slopes.
