Over Memorial Weekend, Audra and I drove back to Fort Davis, Texas for our 25th High School Reunion.
It will be one of the highlights of the decade for us as we look back in years to come. Reconnecting with classmates and close friends was excellent, as was the opportunity to see the sights of our old home town.
Our route as we drove down from Colorado, was through the middle of New Mexico and down through Pecos and Balmorhea. When we arrived at Wild Rose Pass, we got our first glimpse of the largest fire in the history of Texas.
Headquarters for the Reunion was the Davis Mountain Lodge. The owners, Bill and Nancy Davis, were fabulous and very accommodating to allow us to hang out. It is a wonderful B&B. On Monday morning, Audra and I were treated to a great breakfast, cooked by Mrs. Ernhart.
The Class of 1986 wasn't able to attend in it's entirety, but those that attended had a blast. From left to right: Kim, Adam, Robert, Coach Mac, Marty, Audra, John, Christy and Malone.

Audra, Christy, Kim and Kim's puppy.
Malone and Robert.
A few years ago at a school sale, Coach Mac was able to purchase our old basketball jerseys. He brought them to the Reunion and gave them to us as gifts. Malone is quiet impressive.... fitting into his 'Medium'!!!
Day 2 found us at "Lawless" for a lunch picnic. We purchased sandwiches at the Old Stone Village Grocery (which is now a Health Food Market).
For most of the picnic, we enjoyed looking back through several Annuals that Robert provided. There were many laughs and many memories relived.
After lunch, we migrated over to Marfa for some refreshment in the hot Texas heat (yeah, about 100 degrees)..... at the wine and beer garden, Planet Marfa.
Coach Mac and Leah entertained us with their music skills.
The Reunion wrapped up with a phenomenal dinner at the Dutchover Home. Mary cooked a Green Chili with fixins that were out of this world.
A part of the weekend involved some driving between Fort Davis, Alpine and Marfa. The evidence of the fire was just about everywhere.
The fire swept by the old Lane House, but fortunately, the house was spared.
Audra and I stopped to take in the sights at the newly built, Marfa Lights rest stop.
On the way home, Audra and I drove from Fort Davis to Brownwood to see Mother and pick up my motorcycle. After loading up the bike, we drove to Childress for a hotel stay and then drove on to Colorado the next day.
